Its five-member team has been focusing on tax restructuring mandates of late, handling projects for both companies and high net worth individuals. It advises several energy and gas companies on issues ranging from profit tax to VAT, transactions and structuring. Highlights include providing tax inspection assistance to Mediaş, a local subsidiary of global gas company Wintershall Holding, and representing one of the leading domestic players in the Romanian natural gas distribution field, Wirom, in various matters.

This 12-lawyer team has been busy assisting the Timisoara Airport Park with various mandates, and advising Raiffeisen Property Holdings on the management of non-performing assets. Restructuring is a recent growth area, where the firm's deep tax knowledge is an asset. Other highlights include providing leasing and insolvency advice to Aberdeen Property Investors, owner of the Iris Shopping Mall and PGV Tower in Bucharest.

This team combines Western experience with a practical grasp of the Romanian business environment and comprehensive Romanian legal expertise. Highlights of the firm's recent M&A practice include working for Bongrain on its acquisition of a majority stake in Delaco, which was amongst the largest deals in the dairy products sector. This local firm has a strong reputation in all areas of financial law, and offers a total of nine lawyers working on restructuring and insolvency projects. The team advises the government of Romania on potential insolvency law reform and implementation of legislation from the European Union. A recent highlight was advising the Bank of Cyprus on a EUR15 million real estate insolvency that involved some innovative banking and litigation solutions. The firm has also represented the Romanian Property Fund in the recovery of USD68.41 million.

Biris Goran SCPA’s well-regarded group advised Astoria Business Center on the €10m sale of the Astoria office building to Bluehouse Capital. It is advising the Romanian subsidiary of Dachser Logistics on the ongoing greenfield development of a warehouse facility. Clients include Aberdeen Property Investors, Raiffeisen Property Holdings International, First Title Insurance and Timisoara Airport Park. Victor Constantinescu and Raluca Nastase head the team.

Biris Goran SCPA’s IT, telecoms and media team advised Publicis Groupe on its acquisition of Romanian operations of a leading global media planner and communications services provider.
